An Example

Pray throughout the day

  • Nightly Prayer: As a family, or by yourself, reflect on God's graces and pray for yourself and all those around you.
  • The Rosary: As a Catholic, pray the rosary every morning while driving and also while laying in bed at night.
  • Office of the Readings: Catholics have the opportunity to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. These prayers, meant to be prayed at specified times throughout the day, can be said as time permits. For example, pray the Office of the Readings in the morning if that is when your schedule if most flexible.
  • The Angelus: At noon, spend a few short minutes praying this prayer.
  • Divine Mercy Chaplet: At 3:00, the hour when our Lord breathed his last, stop for a moment to reflect and if you have time pray the full Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Attend morning service

Whether a morning mass or bible study, take advantage of opportunities to join others in starting the morning off with God.

Reflect on a daily spiritual email

There are many organizations that send out daily emails for spiritual reflection and/or a morning offering. Take advantage of these to get the day off to a spiritual start.

Read the Bible

St. Jerome said that ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ. Make it a habit to read from scripture every day for 20 or 30 minutes.

Read about the saint of the day

It is so inspiring to read about the early church fathers and the lives of saints, and learn from their examples. Read about the saint of the day every day.

Listen to the radio or podcasts

Make use of driving time, or other down time, to listen to Catholic/Christian radio or podcasts of your favorite sermons.
